I'm Tom Hunkapiller, a senior engineer specializing in AI agents, developer tooling, and complex web systems. Available for contract work.

I build in TypeScript and Bun these days -- my open-source agent harness hotdog is 30,000+ lines of strict TypeScript with zero runtime dependencies, tests included at 95%+ coverage. Beyond that, my everyday stack is JavaScript and Node.js, Python, PHP, SQL, HTML/CSS, Linux and nginx, React, Docker and kubernetes -- plus whatever the job actually needs; over the years that has included Rails, Django, Drupal, Electron, Garmin watch faces, and keyboard firmware.

I've been in the industry since 2008: website frontends and backends, server administration, CI/CD, on-site IT, internal tooling, pulling network cable. The focus hasn't changed since day one -- application performance, maintainable code, application security, and leaving a team better than I found it.
